Despite the decline, Hyundai's exports remained steady at 11,700 units, taking its combined monthly sales to 51,335 units.

The June sales performance also meant Hyundai remained behind both Maruti Suzuki, Tata and Mahindra in the domestic passenger vehicle market.

Market leader Maruti Suzuki reported total sales of 2,00,390 units in June 2026, up 19.3 per cent year-on-year. The company sold 1,50,150 units in the domestic market, while exports stood at 42,768 units. Its domestic passenger vehicle sales reached 1,47,187 units, supported by strong demand for utility vehicles and compact cars.

Meanwhile, Mahindra continued its strong momentum, reporting total vehicle sales of 1,06,207 units, including exports, representing a 37 per cent year-on-year increase. The company's domestic SUV sales rose 28 per cent to 60,393 units, allowing it to stay ahead of Hyundai in monthly domestic volumes.

The decline in June sales was primarily due to a temporary production disruption following a fire at a key supplier's manufacturing facility.
