Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift to launch this week: All you need to know

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the facelifted Brezza in India on July 24, marking the first significant update for the second-generation compact SUV since its debut in 2022. Ahead of the official launch, the automaker has commenced bookings for the refreshed model at a token amount of Rs 11,000 through Arena dealerships and the company's official website.

While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the 2026 Brezza facelift is expected to bring meaningful updates in styling, features and powertrain options, making it a stronger contender in the fiercely competitive compact SUV segment.

Turbo-petrol engine likely to headline updates

The biggest talking point surrounding the Brezza facelift is the expected introduction of Maruti Suzuki's 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine. Currently powering the Fronx, the three-cylinder engine produces 100bhp and 148Nm of torque and is expected to be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox in the Brezza.

Speculation around the new powertrain has gathered pace after recent test mules were spotted with a six-speed gear lever. If introduced, it will give the Brezza its first performance-focused petrol option, allowing it to compete more directly with rivals such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Skoda Kylaq, all of which already offer turbocharged petrol engines.

The smaller-capacity turbo engine could also help Maruti Suzuki price the variant competitively. Under India's GST structure, petrol vehicles measuring under four metres with engines up to 1,200cc attract a lower tax rate than larger petrol engines, potentially allowing the company to balance performance with affordability.

Existing petrol and CNG options to continue

Alongside the new turbo-petrol engine, the Brezza is expected to retain its familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, ensuring buyers continue to have a choice between performance and refinement. The factory-fitted CNG variant is also likely to remain on sale, catering to customers prioritising lower running costs.

Refreshed styling with subtle exterior changes

Visually, the Brezza facelift is expected to receive evolutionary rather than radical updates. Spy images suggest revised front and rear bumpers, updated LED lighting elements and a fresh alloy wheel design.

Inside, Maruti Suzuki is expected to introduce new upholstery and cabin trim finishes while retaining the overall dashboard layout.

Bigger infotainment screen, more premium features

The refreshed Brezza is expected to receive a noticeable equipment upgrade. Among the likely additions are:

• Larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system
• Powered driver's seat
• Ventilated front seats
• Ambient lighting
• Front parking sensors
• Level-2 ADAS on select variants

If these features make it to production, the Brezza will significantly narrow the equipment gap with newer rivals in the segment.

Expected price and rivals

The facelifted Brezza is expected to command a modest premium over the outgoing model, which is currently priced between Rs 8.26 lakh and Rs 13.01 lakh (ex-showroom).

Once launched, it will continue to rival the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Kia Syros, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Skoda Kylaq in India's highly competitive sub-four-metre SUV space.

With the addition of a turbo-petrol engine, upgraded technology and a refreshed feature list, the Brezza facelift aims to strengthen Maruti Suzuki's position in one of the country's most fiercely contested passenger vehicle segments.
