Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift to launch tomorrow: Here's everything that's new

Maruti Suzuki is set to unveil the facelifted Brezza on July 24, marking the first major update to its popular compact SUV since the second-generation model arrived in 2022. Ahead of the official launch, dealership displays and recent sightings have revealed almost everything about the refreshed SUV, including exterior revisions, a revamped cabin and what could be its biggest mechanical upgrade yet.

The updated Brezza is expected to strengthen Maruti Suzuki's position in one of India's most competitive segments, where it takes on rivals such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Kia Syros, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Skoda Kylaq.

Turbo-petrol is the biggest addition

The highlight of the facelift is the introduction of Maruti Suzuki's 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine. The three-cylinder unit, already doing duty in the Fronx, develops 100bhp and 148Nm of torque.

Recent dealership videos have shown a six-speed manual gearbox, indicating that the turbocharged engine could be paired with this transmission. If launched, this would be the first time the Brezza gets a turbo-petrol option, allowing it to compete more directly with rivals that already offer turbocharged petrol powertrains.

The existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is expected to continue, along with the factory-fitted CNG variant, giving buyers multiple powertrain options.

Exterior gets a refreshed look

While the Brezza retains its familiar proportions, the facelift introduces a number of styling revisions. The front fascia receives a redesigned grille, a reworked bumper and new fog lamp housings, lending the SUV a more contemporary appearance.

Higher variants are expected to feature a gold-finished grille, while a larger silver skid plate-style element on the bumper adds a more rugged look. The side profile remains largely unchanged apart from a fresh set of four-spoke alloy wheels.

At the rear, the updates are relatively subtle, with revised LED lighting elements and minor bumper tweaks expected to distinguish the facelift from the outgoing model.

Cabin focuses on technology

The interior receives a more substantial update than the exterior. A larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system is expected to replace the current unit, offering wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Maruti Suzuki is also likely to expand the feature list with several premium additions, including:

• Ventilated front seats
• Wireless phone charger
• Ambient lighting
• Updated climate control interface
• Front parking sensors
• Auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror
• Electric sunroof
• Powered driver's seat (expected)
• Level-2 ADAS on higher variants (expected)

Although the overall dashboard layout remains familiar, revised trim finishes and upholstery are expected to give the cabin a more upmarket feel.

What remains unchanged?

The facelift focuses on enhancing the Brezza rather than reinventing it. The SUV continues on the same platform and retains its upright stance and familiar silhouette. Maruti Suzuki is expected to preserve the practical character that has made the Brezza one of the country's best-selling compact SUVs, while adding more technology and a wider choice of powertrains.

Bookings already underway

Bookings for the updated Brezza are already open for a token amount of Rs 11,000, with deliveries expected to begin soon after the official launch. The facelift is likely to command a small premium over the outgoing model, which is currently priced between Rs 8.26 lakh and Rs 13.01 lakh (ex-showroom).

If the turbo-petrol engine is confirmed at launch, the Brezza facelift will represent one of the most significant updates to the nameplate in recent years, giving Maruti Suzuki a stronger offering in the fiercely contested compact SUV market.
