Nissan Tekton launch live updates: Price, features, design and all you need to know

Bookings for the Nissan Tekton will start from July 9 and deliveries will begin from July 20.

Lower variants of the Nissan Tekton are powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 100bhp and 166Nm of peak torque, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. The engine delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.4kmpl. Higher variants feature a more powerful 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine that develops 163bhp and 280Nm of peak torque, mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed wet dual-clutch automatic (DCT). This engine returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.5kmpl.

The Nissan Tekton measures 4,348mm in length, 1,815mm in width and 1,674mm in height, while offering a 2,657mm wheelbase and 212mm of ground clearance.

Nissan claims the Tekton will deliver best-in-class torque, promising strong low-end performance and effortless drivability across a variety of road conditions.

Nissan aims to produce 1,00,000 exports from India.

Nissan Tekton will be exported from India to 50 countries.

The Nissan Tekton is expected to share much of its cabin layout with the Renault Duster, while featuring Nissan-exclusive upholstery, trim elements and interior finishes to create a distinct identity. Spy shots suggest the SUV will come with a flat-bottom steering wheel, a fully digital instrument cluster, steering-mounted controls and a large touchscreen infotainment system with Google built-in integration.

In terms of equipment, the Tekton is likely to offer a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a powered driver's seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, a powered tailgate, a 360-degree camera, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Level 2 ADAS, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers. With a strong emphasis on technology, comfort and safety, the Tekton is expected to be positioned as a well-equipped premium family SUV.

Although the Tekton is based on the same Renault-Nissan Alliance platform as the Renault Duster, Nissan has given the SUV a unique design language. Spy images and camouflaged test vehicles indicate that it will feature a signature Nissan grille, sleek LED daytime running lights linked by a full-width LED light bar, revised bumpers and added chrome detailing. Unlike the Duster, the Tekton is expected to incorporate more body-coloured elements, lending it a cleaner and more upmarket look. At the rear, the SUV is likely to feature connected LED tail lamps, while top-spec variants could be equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 225-section tyres. With styling cues inspired by Nissan's global SUV range, including the Patrol, the Tekton is expected to offer a strong and imposing road presence.

Nissan is expected to position the Tekton competitively, with prices likely to start at around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV is anticipated to be priced slightly lower than the Renault Duster, which currently carries an ex-showroom price range of Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 18.49 lakh. This aggressive pricing strategy could help the Tekton attract buyers in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment.

Under the hood, the Nissan Tekton is expected to share its engine options with the India-spec Renault Duster. The base variants are likely to use a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing around 100bhp and 160Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Higher-spec versions are expected to be powered by a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine generating approximately 163bhp and 280Nm, available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Unlike the Duster, however, the Tekton is unlikely to be offered with Renault's strong-hybrid powertrain, helping Nissan maintain a distinct positioning within the Alliance.
