Agra mechanic goes to neighbour to recover Rs 4 lakh, found dead outside house

A 55-year-old mechanic was found dead outside his house in Agra's Trans Yamuna area, triggering protests by his family, who accused a neighbour of killing him over a Rs 4 lakh loan dispute. Police have arrested the accused, Uday Agarwal, while launching a search for his two sons, who have also been charged in the case.

The victim, Dinesh Sharma, a resident of Foundry Nagar who worked as a machine repair mechanic, was found lying outside his house in Bhagwati Bagh at around 10 am on Sunday.

His family rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead. They later brought the body back home and staged a protest, demanding that the accused be handed over to them.

According to Sharma's wife, Manju, her husband had lent Rs 4 lakh to Uday Agarwal. She alleged that Sharma went to Agarwal's house at around 9 am to recover the money. About an hour and a half later, his body was found outside their home. The family claimed he had injury marks on his leg and alleged that he was assaulted before his body was dumped outside the house.

A CCTV video of the incident shows a few people carrying Sharma out of a house, crossing the road, and leaving him outside his residence. Police said the footage is being examined as part of the investigation.

During the commotion, Sharma's wife and daughter reportedly fainted after their health deteriorated. There were also scuffles and heated arguments between protesters and police. The body was sent for post-mortem after nearly three hours.

The family further alleged that Uday Agarwal was involved in lending money at high interest rates and claimed that members of his family had a criminal history, creating an atmosphere of fear in the locality.

According to ACP Shweta Verma, the preliminary investigation indicates that the incident arose from a dispute over money. She said Dinesh Sharma had gone to Uday Agarwal's house to demand repayment, during which an argument and physical scuffle broke out between the two sides. Sharma allegedly fell during the altercation and died.

Based on the family's complaint, police have registered an FIR against Uday Agarwal and his two sons, Lakhan and Akash, under charges including murder. Uday Agarwal has been arrested, while efforts are underway to trace his two sons.
