Video: Ahmedabad professor slaps student twice in exam hall
A professor at Ahmedabad's LD Engineering College was seen allegedly slapping a student twice during an examination. The viral CCTV footage and pending complaint have intensified demands for action.

A video showing a professor allegedly slapping a student twice inside an examination hall at Ahmedabad’s LD Engineering College has gone viral on social media, triggering anger among students. The incident reportedly took place on June 2, but students have alleged that no action has been taken against the professor despite a written complaint.
The CCTV footage shows Professor D S Patel, who was present as an examination supervisor during a theory paper, getting into an argument with a student inside the examination hall. Several other students can be seen sitting in the room during the incident. According to the footage, the argument escalates, following which the professor allegedly loses his temper and slaps the student twice.
The student later submitted a written complaint to the college against Professor Patel, demanding action over the incident. However, students have expressed displeasure over the alleged delay in taking disciplinary action. They have now demanded immediate action from the education authorities against the professor, alleging that such behaviour during an examination cannot be ignored.
COLLEGE SENDS REPORT TO TECHNICAL COMMISSIONER
LD Engineering College Principal N Bhupatani said that hitting a student was not acceptable behaviour for a professor and confirmed that the college had received a complaint regarding the incident.
"We called both the student and the professor and forwarded their statements to the office of the Technical Commissioner," Bhupatani said.
Explaining the circumstances leading to the incident, the principal said that according to Professor Patel, the student had taken unusually long to submit the answer sheet even after the examination had ended, which led to an argument between them.
The principal said that since the matter involves a professor, the college cannot directly take disciplinary action and has submitted a report to the concerned authority. Students are now awaiting the decision of the authorities on what action will be taken against Professor Patel.
