Indian medical student, missing in Georgia since May 14, feared dead
Georgian police have taken DNA samples from Dhvanit Rajdeep's elder brother, Mihir, who is present in Georgia, to confirm whether the body is that of the 23-year-old medical student.

A 23-year-old Indian medical student who went missing in Georgia is feared dead after an unidentified body was recovered from a river.
Dhvanit Rajdeep, originally from Odhav in Ahmedabad and a student of medicine at Caucasus University, went missing on May 14, following which a search operation was launched involving local authorities.
An investigation is underway after an unidentified body was recovered from the Mtkvari River. However, identifying the body has been difficult since it is in an advanced state of decomposition after being submerged in the river for a long time.
Georgian police have taken DNA samples from Rajdeep’s elder brother, Mihir, who is present in Georgia, to confirm whether the body is Rajdeep’s.
His father, Mayur, said that Georgian officials have not yet confirmed anything regarding his son’s death, despite collecting DNA samples from his elder son.
Mayur has also demanded a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of his son’s death, if the body is confirmed to be that of the 23-year-old.
His parents had earlier raised concerns about a dispute involving Anil, the Indian landlord of the house where the medical student was staying, and his roommates. However, further details will be known only after the DNA test results are released and the body is identified.
The family had alleged that the landlord and other roommates stole his money, food, and clothes. They further claimed that when Rajdeep decided to move out, Anil refused to return his deposit and, along with his associates, extorted money, kept him locked in a room, and seized his phone.
Following his release, Mayur reportedly sent his son a flight ticket back to India. He said Rajdeep had collected his passport and phone and was on his way to the airport when his call suddenly cut off mid-conversation.
A few days ago, the family had also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to intervene with the Georgian authorities to help bring their son back.
