Mercedes crashes into divider in Bengaluru, one dies on spot, driver falls off bridge

The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, while the duo were out for a late-night drive and a meal. The man was a used-car dealer. The Mercedes belonged to one of his clients.

A man and a woman lost their lives after the Mercedes-Benz they were travelling in crashed into a divider at the entrance of a bridge, after it allegedly went out of control, on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, while the duo were out for a late-night drive and a meal.

They have been identified as Rizwan, a 30-year-old used-car dealer, and his friend Sajia, a 25-year-old employee of a private company. The impact of the collision was so severe that Rizwan, who was driving the vehicle, was flung out of the car and into a nearby drain.

His friend, meanwhile, died on the spot due to the injuries she sustained, according to the police. Upon reaching the spot, the police initially suspected that the man driving the car had fled the scene.

However, they later managed to locate Rizwan's body in the drain. The luxury car involved in the fatal crash belonged to one of his clients, the police said.

The accident left the front portion of the vehicle mangled. The incident took place on the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway.

Rizwan, who was allegedly driving at a high speed, lost control of the car and crashed into the concrete wall on the side of the bridge, per initial findings of the police investigation. He was married and had two children.

A case has been registered at the Hoskote Traffic Police Station, and further probe into the incident is underway, police added.
