3 murders in one night rock Bengaluru: 2 women killed, criminal hacked to death
The city saw three fatal attacks on Sunday night, including two women murdered in separate incidents and a history-sheeter hacked to death on a busy road. Police are probing suspected relationship-linked killings in the women's cases and gang rivalry in the third incident.

A 23-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her boyfriend over a dispute about marriage. Hours later, another woman was found dead at her rented home. Before the night was over, a man with multiple criminal cases against him was chased down and hacked to death on a busy Bengaluru road.
Within a span of hours on Sunday, three killings in different parts of Bengaluru kept police on their toes and raised fresh concerns about violent crime in the city.
The first incident was reported from Mahalakshmi Layout, where Anjali, 23, was killed by her boyfriend Rajeev after an argument over marriage. Police said the couple had been in a relationship for more than three years, but the woman's family opposed the alliance because of Rajeev's criminal background. The accused was arrested shortly after the incident.
In another case under the Bommanahalli police station limits, a 40-year-old woman identified as Krishna Barman was found dead at her rented house in Muniyappa Layout. Investigators suspect she was strangled by someone known to her. Police are examining her recent contacts and movements.
The third killing unfolded in full public view.
History-sheeter Raja alias Halmuk Raja was attacked near IG Circle on JP Nagar Road on Sunday evening. CCTV footage showed multiple assailants chasing him before repeatedly assaulting him with machetes.
According to police, the attackers arrived in a yellow-board car, intercepted Raja and continued the assault even after he collapsed on the road. They fled immediately afterwards.
Raja was rushed to a private hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Police said Raja had multiple criminal cases, including murder, attempted murder and robbery, registered against him. Investigators suspect the killing may be linked to a long-running rivalry dating back nearly a decade and are probing whether it was an act of revenge.
Separate investigations are underway in all three cases.
