Members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) removed a Hindi signboard at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) Circle in Bengaluru, alleging it had been installed illegally and symbolised Hindi imposition in Karnataka. The pro-Kannada group claimed the signboard, located on a public road near the BEL campus, lacked authorisation and questioned why it was placed outside the premises. Police intervened as KRV activists vandalised the signboard during the protest, which came amid renewed opposition to the use of Hindi on public signboards in the state. KRV state president TA Narayana Gowda said the organisation would strongly oppose any attempt to impose Hindi in Karnataka, asserting that the outfit would resist such moves regardless of the form in which they were introduced.
