CRPF jawan shoots himself dead at judge's residence in Delhi

A 37-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel died after allegedly shooting himself with his service revolver while on duty.

The deceased has been identified as Narsi Lal Yadav, a CRPF jawan who was deployed on security duty at the residence of a judge in Delhi's Moti Bagh area on Thursday, police said.

According to preliminary information, the incident took place while Yadav was on duty. He allegedly used his service revolver to shoot himself in the head. Colleagues and local police personnel rushed to the spot after hearing the gunshot, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Police were informed immediately, following which officers reached the location and secured the area. The body was later shifted to the mortuary at Safdarjung Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Investigators have begun an inquiry to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident. Police are examining the scene, recording statements of colleagues and other personnel present at the time, and reviewing all relevant evidence as part of the investigation.

NO FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED SO FAR

No foul play is suspected at this stage, officials said, adding that the exact cause of death and the sequence of events will be established after the post-mortem report and completion of the investigation.
