Months into marriage, pregnant woman jumps from 4th floor, family alleges dowry pressure
What began as a love marriage just three months ago ended in tragedy in Delhi, with a young woman's death now triggering allegations of dowry pressure, mental harassment and questions over what happened inside her marital home.

A 25-year-old pregnant woman died after allegedly falling from the fourth floor of a building in northeast Delhi’s Mustafabad area, in a case that has now triggered serious allegations of dowry harassment against her husband and in-laws.
The incident took place on Monday. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival, police said on Tuesday.
Preliminary findings suggest the woman had married a man of her choice just three months ago. However, within weeks of the marriage, her family claims, the relationship turned hostile with repeated demands for gold and cash allegedly made by her husband and his family.
They also allege she was subjected to mental and physical harassment soon after the marriage.
“SHE SAID THEY WILL KILL HER”
The victim’s sister said tensions had escalated in the days leading up to the incident.
“She has fallen from the fourth floor. For the last three to four days there were a lot of disagreements. My brother, mother and other relatives had gone there to resolve the matter,” she said.
The family alleges that the situation inside the matrimonial home had become increasingly dangerous.
“When I went to meet her, she said she was being tortured. She told me that they will kill her. She was pregnant. We want justice for our daughter,” the victim’s mother said.
POLICE INITIATE PROBE
Police said a case has been registered and statements of family members are being recorded. The exact circumstances behind the fall are being examined.
Officials said further legal action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
