A 24-year-old woman has accused a man known to her of sexually harassing her inside a moving car and threatening her after allegedly taking her to a secluded stretch in East Delhi's Mandawali area.
Based on her complaint, the Mandawali Police registered an FIR under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Delhi Police said the accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
According to the woman, the accused had come to her room on May 29 and later suggested they step out for momos. The two allegedly went out and later returned to her residence.
The woman told police that after returning, the accused changed into his work uniform but refused to leave despite being asked to do so.
According to the complaint, she then stepped outside on the pretext of going to a nearby park. When she called the accused, he allegedly told her that he had her water bottle and asked her to come downstairs to collect it.
The woman claimed that when she reached downstairs, the accused asked her to accompany him to refill his car with CNG. She initially refused but claimed that he had taken the key to her room and was sitting inside his vehicle, forcing her to accompany him in order to retrieve it.
After refuelling, instead of dropping her home, the accused allegedly drove towards a deserted stretch.
The woman also claimed that while inside the moving car, the accused made obscene remarks, demanded sexual favours, touched her inappropriately and prevented her from getting out of the vehicle. She also told police that she recorded part of the incident on her mobile phone.
According to her complaint, the accused repeatedly pressured her despite her objections and pleas to be taken home. She further alleged that he continued making inappropriate remarks and ignored her repeated requests to let her go.
The woman said she broke down and repeatedly pleaded with the accused to stop. However, she claimed that he continued to pressure her and made threatening remarks when she refused to comply.
Fearing for her safety, she began screaming and repeatedly banging on the windows of the moving vehicle. She said the accused eventually stopped the car and let her out on the roadside.
As he drove away, the woman claimed that he threatened to harm her and ruin her life.
The woman said she immediately contacted an acquaintance and narrated the incident. She later informed her father about what had happened and subsequently approached the police, seeking strict action against the accused.
