Teen killed, man murdered, child shot in 24 hours in northeast Delhi

A spate of violence in north-east Delhi's New Usmanpur area over 24 hours has led to fresh concern over law and order, after two murders and a firing incident were reported from the locality. Police have started investigations in all three cases and said raids are being carried out to trace those involved.

The incidents include the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old boy, a firing case in which a 12-year-old boy suffered a bullet injury to his leg, and the recovery of the body of a 26-year-old man who had also sustained stab injuries. Officials said important leads have emerged and efforts are continuing in all three investigations.

The first case was reported at about 10.25 pm on June 1, when a 17-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death in New Usmanpur. After receiving information, police reached the spot and found the teenager with stab wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

A forensic team later examined the scene and gathered evidence, after which a murder case was registered. Police said CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being checked and local residents are being questioned. Investigators are also examining the victim's recent movements and associations to establish the motive behind the killing.

In a separate incident on the evening of June 1, miscreants allegedly opened fire in the Fourth Pushta area of New Usmanpur. During the firing, a 12-year-old boy who was passing through the area sustained a bullet injury to his leg. Police said two accused have been arrested in connection with the case, while efforts are under way to arrest a third suspect.

The violence continued into Tuesday morning, when police recovered the body of a 26-year-old man from Bhagat Singh Colony. The man was identified as Lalit, a resident of nearby Brahmpuri. Police said a team reached the spot after receiving information and found him lying on the road.

According to police, Lalit had suffered stab injuries and was allegedly murdered. A forensic team was called to inspect the spot and collect evidence. A case has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder, and multiple teams have been formed to trace the accused.

Police said investigations are progressing in all three cases, with CCTV footage, forensic findings and other leads being examined. Officials said they have got important leads and are continuing efforts to solve the murder and firing cases reported from New Usmanpur.
