The accused have been identified as Karan alias Romi, 24, and Pravesh, 21, both residents of Delhi. Investigators say the duo are linked to multiple extortion, robbery and firing cases in Delhi and Haryana and have around two dozen criminal cases registered against them.

MIDNIGHT CHASE TURNS INTO GUN BATTLE

According to Gurugram Police, Crime Branch Sector-40 received intelligence during the night of May 29-30 that two suspects involved in several extortion-related firing incidents in Delhi were travelling from Bilaspur towards Gurugram on a motorcycle while carrying illegal weapons.

Acting on the tip-off, teams from Crime Branch Sector-40 and Crime Branch Sector-39 launched a joint operation and set up surveillance near Pachgaon Chowk.

After hours of waiting, police spotted a motorcycle carrying two men between 2 am and 2.30 am on May 30. Officers moved in to intercept them, but the suspects allegedly changed direction and sped towards a service road in an attempt to evade capture.

The chase continued towards the Manesar Valley area, where police said the accused realised they had been surrounded.

BULLETS HIT POLICE VEHICLE

As officers closed in, the motorcycle allegedly skidded and fell. Police claimed the suspects immediately began firing while attempting to escape.

During the exchange, several bullets struck a police vehicle.

Investigators said officers repeatedly warned the duo to surrender. However, the suspects allegedly continued firing, forcing the police to retaliate after issuing warning shots.

One bullet struck each accused in the leg, bringing the encounter to an end.

Both men were overpowered and taken into custody before being shifted to hospital for treatment.

14 ROUNDS FIRED DURING ENCOUNTER

Police said a total of 13 to 14 rounds were fired during the encounter.

According to investigators, the accused fired around nine to 10 rounds, while police personnel fired four rounds in response.

Following the operation, the Station House Officer of Manesar Police Station, along with Crime Scene and Fingerprint Teams, inspected the spot and collected evidence.

A fresh case has been registered against the accused at Manesar Police Station under relevant legal provisions.

FOREIGN-MADE WEAPONS WORTH LAKHS RECOVERED

Police recovered the motorcycle allegedly used by the suspects along with a cache of weapons.

The seizure included a foreign-made pistol reportedly worth several lakh rupees, a foreign-made revolver, two magazines and spent cartridge cases recovered from the scene.

Investigators are examining the origin of the weapons and whether they were procured for future criminal operations.

WANTED IN DELHI FIRING AND EXTORTION CASES

Police said the two men were wanted in connection with multiple firing incidents and robberies in Delhi, including cases in the Kanjhawala and Mundka areas.

Investigators alleged that the duo had opened fire at several locations in a single night as part of an extortion campaign that had spread fear among traders and residents.

Delhi Police had also been searching for them for a considerable period due to their alleged involvement in extortion-related crimes in the national capital.

ALLEGED MURDER PLOT UNDER SCANNER

Investigators suspect the accused were planning to carry out a murder when they were intercepted by the Gurugram Police teams.

The exact target and motive are yet to be established, but police believe further questioning could reveal details about the alleged plot and the wider criminal network linked to the duo.

OVER TWO DOZEN CRIMINAL CASES

A review of their criminal records revealed that both accused have approximately two dozen cases registered against them across Delhi and Haryana.
