Hyderabad man dies by suicide, family claims stress over electoral roll revision
Shaik Mujeeb, 40, was found dead at his home, with his family linking his distress to unresolved identity document discrepancies. Police are investigating the case and have not established any direct connection with the ongoing SIR verification exercise.

A 40-year-old man from Hyderabad allegedly died by suicide at his residence, with his family claiming that prolonged stress over discrepancies in his identity documents and concerns related to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls contributed to his distress.
The victim, identified as Shaik Mujeeb, was found dead at his home. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to Mujeeb's family members, he had been attempting to correct mismatches in his official records, including his Aadhaar card, voter ID and other identity documents, for several months.
They alleged that he spent around Rs 1.5 lakh on the correction process through private agents, but the discrepancies were not resolved, leaving him under considerable mental stress.
The family further claimed that Mujeeb was anxious about the possible impact of the document inconsistencies during the ongoing SIR exercise, in which Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are carrying out door-to-door verification of electoral rolls.
Relatives said he feared that the issues in his documents could create difficulties for him and his family during the verification process.
However, police have not established any direct connection between the SIR exercise and Mujeeb's death, and the investigation into the case is underway.
