In an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Shivani Dev and Vijay Meena discussed the death of their nine-year-old daughter, Amaira, who died after jumping from the fourth floor of her school building in Jaipur. Talking about how their daughter was scared of height, Shivani Dev said, "She never wanted to jump because Amaira was scared of only one thing in life, which was height. She was scared of two feet bench of my society. So taking this extreme step by the bullying of the single day, I believe that was the standalone incident which happened with her. Everybody ganged up. Teacher supported all those students."
The parents also detailed their ongoing fight for justice, demanding that the class teacher face charges for abetment to suicide and the principal be held accountable under the Juvenile Justice Act. Vijay Meena noted that Amaira's body language in the footage showed she was isolated and lacked confidence. The parents highlighted systemic failures within the school's administration, urging other parents to actively inquire about anti-bullying mechanisms and counselling structures during parent-teacher meetings to prevent such incidents.
