UP man poisons 4-year-old son, later consumes same drink to die by suicide
A man and his four-year-old son died in Meerut after an alleged poisoning following a dispute with his wife. Police are questioning both families as the case highlights a domestic row that turned fatal.

A 35-year-old man and his four-year-old son died in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut after he allegedly gave the child a soft drink mixed with poison and then consumed poison himself, police said on Saturday. Police said he was upset after his wife refused to return with him from her parental home and asked for a few more days to stay back after her sister's wedding.
The dead were identified as Kapil, a resident of Rahdara village, and his son Krishna alias Laddu. The incident took place in Govindpur Shakarpur village under the Kithore police station area in Meerut district, officials said.
According to police, Kapil had married Kajal, a resident of Govindpur Shakarpur, about five years ago and the couple had two children. Kajal stayed back at her parental home after her sister's wedding on July 3.
Police said, "When Kapil came to take her home the following day, she asked to extend her stay for a few more days, citing family responsibilities, leading to an argument between the couple. On Friday, Kapil again visited his in-laws' house, and another argument reportedly broke out between the two over the stay."
The preliminary investigation found that Kapil, upset over the development, allegedly made his son consume a poisonous substance mixed in a soft drink. Police said the child was taken to hospital after his condition worsened, but died on the way. They said Kapil allegedly consumed poison afterwards, was admitted to hospital in a critical condition, and died during treatment early on Saturday.
Kithore Station House Officer Subodh Kumar Saxena said the matter was being investigated. He said family members from both sides had been questioned to establish the exact circumstances behind the incident, and further legal action would follow the findings.
