A major fire broke out in an SRA residential building in Mumbai's Andheri West on Friday, triggering panic among residents as several people were forced to jump from the building in a desperate bid to save their lives.

The blaze erupted in Building No. 2 of the SRA complex located at Gadevi Dongar, near Noor Masjid and Khoja Jamatkhana, close to Delhi United Society. Thick smoke quickly engulfed parts of the building, trapping several occupants inside.

According to preliminary information, some residents jumped from the third and fourth floor of the building to escape the flames before rescue teams reached the spot. Fire brigade personnel launched an extensive rescue operation and safely evacuated several people from the building.

NO IMMEDIATE DETAILS OF CASUALTIES

After sustained firefighting efforts, officials managed to bring the blaze under control. There were no immediate details on the number of people injured or whether any fatalities had occurred.

Multiple emergency response agencies, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, DN Nagar Police and personnel from Adani Electricity, rushed to the scene. Firefighters worked to douse the flames while police cordoned off the area to facilitate rescue operations and prevent onlookers from entering the affected zone.

The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine how the blaze started and assess the extent of the damage caused to the building.
