Elderly man falls into open manhole in Mumbai's Sakinaka, dies

An elderly pedestrian died after he fell into an open water drainage manhole on Khairani Road in Sakinaka, Andheri East, Mumbai, during repair work. Emergency response teams, including the fire brigade, launched a search and rescue operation, eventually retrieving the resident's body after a narrow three-hour rescue effort. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has blamed the contractor for leaving the manhole open.
