In an exclusive interview with India Today, Gaurav and Juhi Srivastava, the parents of 11-year-old Vihaan who died after a tree fell on his school bus in Mumbai, said they want justice for their son and those accountable for the mishap should be punished.
Vihaan's mother said, "I just want justice for my son, Vihaan. Nothing else. The people who are accountable should be punished."
The parents rejected the municipal corporation report, which they state unfairly clears coordinating officials and solely blames the contractor. They demanded a fair, independent, and time-bound inquiry by experts to establish full accountability. Highlighting that the incident was a preventable disaster rather than a natural one, the parents point out that local citizens had previously raised complaints about the condition of the tree. They emphasised that suspending lower-level officials is insufficient and insist that planners and supervisors must also face consequences.
