Speeding bus overturns near Noida Flyover, around 12 passengers injured

The Noida Police Commissionerate's media cell said the bus was travelling from Farrukhabad to Delhi when it lost control and crashed into a divider on the stretch between the Mahamaya Flyover and a nearby drain.

Around a dozen passengers were injured after a bus travelling from Farrukhabad to Delhi lost control and overturned near the Mahamaya Flyover in Noida on Saturday morning, police said.

The accident took place in the Phase-1 police station area when the speeding bus reportedly became uncontrollable and crashed into a road divider near the flyover. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn on the roadway.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. With the help of local residents, officers evacuated the injured passengers from the overturned bus and shifted them to nearby hospitals for treatment.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred on the carriageway leading towards Delhi. The bus overturned after striking the divider, triggering panic among passengers and passersby and causing temporary traffic disruption in the area.

The Noida Police Commissionerate's media cell said the bus was travelling from Farrukhabad to Delhi when it lost control and struck a divider shortly after crossing the Mahamaya Flyover. All injured passengers were provided with immediate medical attention.

Police later removed the damaged bus from the road and restored normal traffic movement. A probe has been initiated into the incident.

Preliminary findings suggest the bus losing control was the likely cause of the crash, although police said all angles are being investigated.

In a separate incident, a Delhi Traffic Police head constable was killed after being hit by a scooter and subsequently run over by a goods carrier vehicle while on duty near ISBT Kashmere Gate in north Delhi on Saturday, police said. Head Constable Anil (39) was managing traffic on Ring Road when the accident took place.

According to police, a scooter carrying three riders struck the traffic policeman while approaching from the Hanuman Mandir side, causing him to fall onto the road. Moments later, a passing goods carrier vehicle ran over him, leaving him critically injured. Anil was immediately rushed to hospital, but doctors declared him dead during treatment.

Police said the scooter riders fled the scene after the collision, while the driver of the goods carrier was apprehended on the spot. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace the absconding riders and ascertain the sequence of events leading to the fatal accident.

The deceased constable was originally from Rajasthan's Kotputli district and was living in rented accommodation in Delhi's Chhatarpur area while serving in the capital. His family has been informed about the incident.
