Nearly 10 years after construction began, the Noida Authority's new administrative headquarters has finally become operational, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurating the Rs 390-crore complex in Sector 96 on Saturday.

The headquarters, located near the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, was conceived as a modern administrative centre that would bring all major departments of the Noida Authority under one roof. Though work on the project began in 2016, a series of technical and administrative hurdles delayed its completion for years.

PROJECT HIT BY MULTIPLE DELAYS

The building was originally expected to be ready much earlier. However, construction timelines repeatedly slipped due to various technical and administrative reasons.

The Covid-19 pandemic added to the delays as labour shortages affected the pace of work across the project.

With the project remaining incomplete, the Noida Authority took action against the agency that was initially executing the work. The remaining construction and retrofitting of the structure were subsequently handed over to a new agency.

According to a technical report prepared by IIT Delhi, several structural improvements were required. After the recommended corrections and strengthening work were carried out, the project moved towards completion and was eventually readied for inauguration.

ALL KEY DEPARTMENTS TO FUNCTION FROM ONE CAMPUS

The new headquarters is expected to significantly improve administrative functioning by bringing all major departments into a single complex.

At present, several departments operate from different sectors across Noida, often requiring residents to visit multiple offices for different services. Officials believe the centralisation of departments will help speed up file disposal, improve coordination among offices and make public services more accessible.

The headquarters has been developed with modern office spaces, digital facilities and upgraded infrastructure aimed at improving efficiency.

MODERN FACILITIES FOR STAFF AND VISITORS

Built across nearly six acres, the new administrative campus has been designed to accommodate both employees and visitors comfortably.

The complex includes adequate parking facilities, modern workspaces and digital infrastructure to support day-to-day operations. Its location near the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway is also expected to improve accessibility.

DESIGN REVISED DURING CONSTRUCTION

The project underwent significant design changes during its construction phase. Earlier plans envisaged taller towers as part of the headquarters complex.

However, under a revised design, two towers of four and eight storeys were constructed instead. The redesigned campus now serves as the new administrative centre of the Noida Authority.

With the inauguration of the headquarters, one of Noida's longest-running infrastructure projects has finally reached completion, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the city's civic administration.

CM ANNOUNCES MAJOR DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

The inauguration of the Noida Authority headquarters was part of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's visit to Gautam Buddh Nagar, during which he launched and inaugurated development projects worth around Rs 2,478 crore.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for an electronic circuit manufacturing plant in Sector 10 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). The project is expected to attract an investment of around Rs 7,000 crore from a South Korean industrial group. He also laid the foundation stone for a solar cell manufacturing unit in YEIDA Sector 8.

Addressing the gathering, Adityanath said the new headquarters would enable citizens, homebuyers, entrepreneurs and investors to access better services under one roof. He urged the Noida Authority to digitise all public services and directed officials to issue notices to investors who had acquired land but failed to begin projects within the stipulated timeframe. He said such land should be reclaimed and allotted to new investors.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the government's efforts to resolve long-pending issues faced by homebuyers, saying around 1.25 lakh buyers had received homes over the past year and more than three lakh had benefited overall.

Referring to Noida International Airport, Adityanath said domestic commercial flight operations had begun and international services would commence soon. He added that industrial projects such as the electronics and solar manufacturing units, along with the proposed apparel park and medical device park in the YEIDA region, would further strengthen Uttar Pradesh's economy.

During his address, Adityanath also dismissed the long-held belief that Noida was "jinxed" for chief ministers, saying he had never believed in such superstitions and that development depended on vision and the determination to implement it.
