Rabri Devi seeks July 5 deadline to vacate Patna bungalow amid inventory row

Ex-Bihar CM Rabri Devi has sought time till July 5 to vacate her official residence in Patna as shifting continued amid an inventory dispute. The handover has been held up because the authorised list of government-issued household items has not been furnished.

The process of shifting household belongings from former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi's official residence at 10 Circular Road in Patna continued for the second consecutive day on Monday, even as a dispute over the official inventory of items allotted with the bungalow delayed the handover.

According to family sources, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav is likely to shift to his allotted government residence on Polo Road after the vacating process is completed.

Sources said Rabri Devi has sought time until July 5 to complete the process of vacating the bungalow. The extension has been sought to allow verification of the household items that were originally allotted along with the residence and to complete the matching process before handing over possession.

INVENTORY DISPUTE DELAYS HANDOVER

Uncertainty remains over whether the bungalow will be completely vacated on Monday, with the process hitting a hurdle over the absence of an official inventory list of the items provided when the residence was allotted.

Rabri Devi's private secretary has written to the secretary of the Building Construction Department, referring to the department's final eviction notice issued on June 22.

According to the letter, when officials from the department visited the residence on June 24, they did not provide the authorised list of furniture and other items that had been supplied at the time of allotment.

The letter requested the department to furnish the official inventory so that each item could be verified before the residence is formally vacated.

The RJD leader's office said the list was necessary to ensure there is no confusion or dispute after the bungalow is handed back to the government.

20-YEAR-OLD RECORDS AT CENTRE OF ROW

The 10 Circular Road bungalow was allotted to Rabri Devi in 2006. The current disagreement centres on records dating back nearly two decades, with the inventory of government-issued household items yet to be officially reconciled before the handover process is completed.
