Fresh details emerging from the investigation into Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal's murder have revealed that he suspected his fiance, Siya Goyal, was involved with another man and had questioned his family over whether adequate background checks had been carried out before the marriage was fixed. He had also repeatedly expressed concern over Siya's closeness to Chetan Chaudhary, her alleged lover and co-accused in the murder case.

According to police, Ketan's father, Vishal Agarwal, told investigators that his son had repeatedly raised concerns about Siya's behaviour and her frequent references to Chetan during their conversations.

As per PTI, Ketan first became uneasy after a planned pre-wedding trip to Bali, Indonesia, was cancelled on June 6. He reportedly told his father that Siya had begun picking fights over trivial issues. His father reassured him, saying she was young and that the family would counsel her.

Police said Ketan also complained that Siya's phone was often engaged whenever he called her and that she frequently mentioned Chetan during their conversations. He told his family he suspected she was in a relationship with someone else.

Despite his concerns, Ketan's family reportedly reassured him that there was likely no reason for alarm, noting that the Goyal family was known to them through relatives.

"After the Bali trip got cancelled on June 6, Ketan approached his father and complained about Siya picking up fights over small issues. His father told him that, as she was young, she might have been behaving in that manner and assured him that they would counsel her," a police official said.

The official added that after returning from Lohagad Fort on June 14, Ketan again asked his father whether the family had conducted a thorough background check before finalising the marriage.

"Ketan told his father that Siya's phone was often busy whenever he called her and that she frequently mentioned Chaudhary during their conversations," the official said.

Ketan, a Pune-based realtor, was allegedly pushed to his death from a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18 by Siya Goyal (20) and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary (22). The couple was scheduled to marry in November this year.

Both accused have been arrested and remanded in police custody till July 3.
