What began as a joyful outing to celebrate an upcoming birthday ended in heartbreak for two families after a 26-year-old Pune man, who was just months away from his wedding, lost his life in a tragic accident at Lohagad Fort.

Ketan Vishal Agarwal, a resident of Gahunje and director of his family's real estate business, had travelled to the scenic hill fort in Maval tehsil on Thursday with his fiance and two friends. The trip was meant to mark a happy occasion ahead of his fiance's birthday. Instead, it turned into a nightmare that would leave loved ones devastated.

According to police, around 10:30 am, Agarwal was taking photographs near a cliff edge when he suddenly lost his footing. As strong winds swept across the fort, he slipped and plunged nearly 400 feet into a deep gorge below.

The horrific fall left him with fatal injuries. His fiance and friends, who had been sharing moments of celebration with him just minutes earlier, could only watch in shock as the tragedy unfolded.

The loss is particularly heartbreaking as Agarwal was preparing to begin a new chapter in life. His wedding was scheduled for November, and both families had already made elaborate arrangements, including booking a palace in Udaipur for the ceremony.

Following the accident, police and members of the Shivdurg Mitra Emergency Rescue Team launched a challenging rescue operation. Battling steep terrain and dense vegetation, rescuers spent nearly three hours reaching and recovering the young man's body from the valley.
