My son didn't push Ketan: Accused Chetan's father's claim in Pune fort murder case

As police claim Ketan Agrawal was pushed into a valley as part of a murder plot, the father of one of the accused has come forward with a very different version of what happened at Lohagad Fort.

Ketan Agrawal death case: Accused Chetan's father denies murder allegations.

The father of Chetan Chowdhury, one of the accused in the alleged murder of Pune businessman Ketan Vishal Agrawal, has claimed that his son is being falsely implicated and was standing "far away" when Agrawal fell into a valley at Maharashtra's Lohagad Fort.

His remarks come as investigators pursue a case that police believe was planned over several weeks and culminated in Agrawal's death on June 18.

Rejecting the allegations against his son, Babulal Chowdhury said Chetan had left home after informing his mother that he was going for a business meeting.

"He told his mother that he had a meeting and was leaving. He didn't tell me anything. He said he would be back by 2 or 3," Babulal said, as quoted by ANI.

The father said he had no knowledge of the events that allegedly unfolded at Lohagad Fort and only learned details after his son's arrest.

"I don't know what happened while they were talking. That's what he told me," he said.

'SIYA WAS STANDING NEAR KETAN'

Babulal Chowdhury claimed that Chetan had consistently denied pushing Agrawal.

"When we went to the police station, Chetan told me that he didn't push him. He was standing far away," he said.

According to him, Chetan told the family that Siya Goyal was standing closest to Ketan before he fell.

"The girl was standing near the boy. Chetan told me this. He told me that in front of the girl as well," Babulal said.

However, he stopped short of directly accusing Siya.

"I don't know whether she pushed him or not. But Chetan told me he was standing far away," he said.

The father also said neither he nor his family had ever met Siya before the case came to light.

"I just came to know the name of the girl. I have never seen her before. I saw her in the police vehicle for the first time," he said.

'MY SON IS BEING FRAMED'

Maintaining that Chetan had no role in the alleged murder, Babulal repeatedly claimed his son was being framed.

"He is being framed. He has nothing to do with this," he said.

Describing his son, he added, "Chetan was a sincere boy. He used to come to the shop every day and work."

The father also claimed that when police first detained Chetan, the family was not informed about the seriousness of the case.

"When he was taken from the house at night, the police did not tell us anything. I went to the police station around 2 or 2.30 in the night, but they asked me to come back in the morning," he said.

According to Babulal, police initially told him it was a fraud-related matter.

"They told me it was a fraud case and that they would release my son in two hours. The next morning, we were told it was a murder case," he claimed.

"I want Chetan to be acquitted. My son can't do this," he added.

POLICE ALLEGE MURDER PLOT

The father's claims sharply contrast with the findings of the investigation.

According to police sources, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chowdhury conspired to kill Agrawal and executed the plan at Lohagad Fort on June 18.

Investigators suspect the planning began weeks earlier.

Police sources said Siya allegedly insisted on revisiting Lohagad Fort on June 4 after having already visited the location with Agrawal on May 31. Investigators believe she may have conducted a recce during the earlier visit and later finalised the plan.

The probe has also uncovered details of a cancelled pre-wedding trip to Bali.

According to investigators, a pre-wedding shoot was scheduled in Bali on June 6. Police allege that Siya deliberately made Agrawal's passport disappear and flushed it down a toilet at a food mall, causing the trip to be cancelled.

Investigators further claim that another attempt to execute the alleged plan was made on June 14 but did not succeed.

WHAT POLICE CLAIM HAPPENED ON JUNE 18

Police sources allege that Agrawal was taken to Lohagad Fort on June 18, where Chetan Chowdhury was already present.

Investigators claim that Siya and Chetan later pushed Agrawal into a valley, leading to his death.

According to police, the alleged murder was the culmination of a conspiracy that had been unfolding for weeks.

The investigation is continuing, with Pune Rural Police examining the sequence of events leading up to Agrawal's death and the alleged role of the accused.
