As the probe into the death of 25-year-old Ketan Agarwal intensifies, a cab driver who drove Ketan and murder accused Siya Goyal to Mumbai Airport has made a key claim. The driver alleged that Siya asked him to stop on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, opened the car’s boot and took out something from her purse before the couple reached the airport, where Ketan’s passport was later found missing.

The claim has assumed significance as investigators probe the alleged disappearance of Ketan's passport before the couple's planned pre-wedding shoot in Bali, with the investigation indicating that the passport was deliberately made to disappear.

The cab driver, Vaibhav Jadhav, has shared details of the journey in an exclusive conversation with Aaj Tak correspondent Shrikrishna Panchal.

Jadhav said he picked up the passengers from Pune at around 10 am. According to him, Siya initially refused to get into the cab and her brother Sahil forced her to sit inside the vehicle. The cab then reached Ravet, where Ketan Agrawal boarded.

The driver claimed that while travelling on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, Siya asked him to stop at a food mall for tea. Around 10 minutes later, she returned to the vehicle and asked him to open the boot.

He claimed that she then took something out of her purse from the boot area. After another 15 to 20 minutes, the passengers called him back to the vehicle and the journey to Mumbai Airport resumed.

Jadhav said he dropped all the passengers at Mumbai Airport. About two minutes later, he received a call informing him that a small bag had been left behind in the cab. He said he was around 200 metres away and returned the bag.

The driver further claimed that after driving another 500 metres, he received another call alleging that Ketan's passport had fallen inside the cab. Jadhav said he had already checked the vehicle and told them the passport was not inside. He alleged that they then asked him to make a video call to show the cab's interior, but the passport was still not found.

According to Jadhav, he was then asked to return to the airport, where Sahil and Ketan searched the cab themselves. He claimed that despite checking the vehicle, the passport could not be located. After the search, both parties left the airport.

Jadhav also claimed that Siya and her brother Sahil had argued throughout the journey from Pune to Ravet, where Ketan joined the trip. He reiterated that Siya had taken something from the boot after asking him to open it, but said he did not know what the item was.

A missing passport that forced the cancellation of a pre-wedding trip to Bali weeks before businessman Ketan Agrawal's death is now being treated by investigators as a crucial piece of an alleged murder conspiracy that has stunned Maharashtra.

PASSPORT DISAPPEARANCE PART OF LARGER PLOT: POLICE

Earlier, Pune Rural Police also said that Ketan's fiancee, Siya Goyal, allegedly stole and destroyed his passport, preventing him from travelling abroad with which was not an isolated act but part of a wider plot that ultimately ended with the 26-year-old's death at Lohagad Fort.

Ketan and Siya, who got engaged in February, were scheduled to travel to Bali on June 6 for a pre-wedding photoshoot. Four people were travelling together, but the trip was abruptly cancelled when Ketan discovered that his passport was missing after reaching Mumbai Airport.

CIRCUMSTANCES OF MISSING PASSPORT SUSPICIOUS: FATHER

Ketan's father, Vishal Agrawal, said the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the document appeared suspicious.

"They were supposed to go from Mumbai to Bali, Indonesia, on June 6 for a pre-wedding shoot. While leaving home, only four people were in the car. Everyone checked their passports while sitting in the car, and all the passports, currency, credit cards, driving licences and other valuables were kept in a single pouch. That pouch was in the car itself," he said.

"After arriving at the airport, everyone had their passports except Ketan. Only Ketan's passport got stolen. Because of that, he couldn't go and had to return from the airport," he added.

COPS RECREATE KETAN MURDER SCENE

On Sunday, police took Siya Goyal to Lohagad Fort to reconstruct the crime scene, using a dummy to recreate the moment he was pushed to his death, an official said.

She was taken there at 6.30 am. According to the police, the exercise is aimed at recreating the exact chain of events around the deadly fall that claimed Agarwal's life on June 18.

A mannequin was used in the crime scene recreation. As part of the exercise, the dummy was pushed down off the walls of the fort.

KETAN AGARWAL'S FATHER EMOTIONAL APPEAL

On Saturday, Ketan Agarwal's father made an emotional appeal while participating in a candlelight march seeking justice for his son. He urged people who were present at Lohagad Fort on June 18 — the day Ketan was allegedly pushed off a cliff by his fiance Siya Goyal and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary — to come forward and assist the investigation.

Addressing residents, family members and friends gathered at Belmondo Society in Gahunje on the outskirts of Pune, Vishal Agarwal said several people had witnessed the incident surrounding it at the fort but had not yet approached the police.
