Affair suspicion turns fatal: Wife arrested for strangling husband with dupatta
A 20-year-old woman was arrested after her husband was allegedly strangled during a late-night argument in Jagatpuri. Police said the case was solved within hours through forensic work, witness accounts and questioning.

A 20-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly strangling her husband to death with a dupatta after a heated argument over suspicions of an extramarital affair in Delhi's Jagatpuri area, police said on Thursday.
Police said they solved the blind murder case within hours of the incident and arrested the accused, identified as Alisha, from a nearby gurdwara where she had allegedly gone into hiding after the crime.
The victim, Mustakeem alias Sahil (20), was found unconscious at his residence in Rashid Market after police received a PCR call at around 3:52 am on July 2 reporting that a woman was strangling her husband.
A police team rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to Dr Hedgewar Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased's mother, Jagatpuri police registered a murder case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation.
ARGUMENT OVER MOBILE PHONE
According to investigators, Alisha told police during questioning that her husband suspected her of having an extramarital relationship.
Acting on those suspicions, Sahil allegedly took her mobile phone during the night and tried to search it for evidence, triggering a bitter argument between the couple.
Police said the dispute escalated and the victim allegedly assaulted his wife during the confrontation.
MURDER DURING HEATED CONFRONTATION
According to the accused's statement to police, she reacted in anger during the altercation. Investigators said she allegedly sat on her husband's chest, overpowered him and strangled him using her dupatta.
A short while later, the victim's mother entered the room. By then, Alisha had allegedly fled the house and taken shelter in a gurdwara in an attempt to evade arrest.
Police later tracked her down and arrested her from the religious premises.
CASE CRACKED WITHIN HOURS
Officials said the investigation team conducted a scientific examination of the crime scene, recorded witness statements and analysed available evidence before questioning the victim's wife.
During sustained interrogation, Alisha allegedly confessed to her involvement in the killing and disclosed the sequence of events leading up to the murder.
Police have recovered and seized the dupatta allegedly used to strangle the victim.
Investigators said the swift breakthrough was achieved through prompt police response, forensic examination of the scene and sustained questioning of suspects and witnesses.
Further investigation is underway.
