Speeding Thar kills three, including two children, in Gurugram, driver arrested

Three people, including two children, were killed after a speeding Thar ran them over in a village in Gurugram late at night, police said, adding that the driver has been arrested based on CCTV footage.

According to police, the accused driver fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle. However, the entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the village, which helped authorities identify and track him down within hours.
The victims were identified as Subhash, 54, who was returning home from his brother’s house with his grandsons, aged 10 and eight. Eyewitness footage showed the vehicle hitting them from behind, throwing them nearly 30 feet away.
Police from Pataudi police station reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident and took custody of the bodies. A search operation was launched immediately to trace the accused.
The driver was later identified as Deepanshu, 25, a resident of Goriawas village. He has been arrested and will be produced before a court, with police preparing to seek his remand for further investigation.
