BPSC 70th result out: Shraddha Pandey tops as 2,027 posts filled after long delays
The Bihar Public Service Commission has declared the final result of the 70th Combined Competitive Examination after protests, court hearings and a re-test. With 2,027 candidates selected against 2,035 vacancies, the result closes a long and closely watched recruitment cycle.

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has finally released the final result of its 70th Combined Competitive Examination, bringing closure to months of protests, delays and legal challenges.
Shraddha Pandey from Uttar Pradesh secured first rank with 593 marks, topping the 70th BPSC examination. Shashank Gaurav and Ayush Bijoy followed closely, both scoring 592 marks and sharing the second and third positions.
The announcement was made in Patna by Commission Chairman Ravi Manubhai Parmar, confirming that 2,027 candidates have been selected against 2,035 advertised vacancies.
The process, which began with the preliminary test held on 4 January 2025, saw disruption after a ruckus at the Bapu Examination Complex, followed by cancellation of the PT and a re-examination.
A three-month-long protest had demanded scrapping the exam entirely, but the Commission continued with the recruitment process, maintaining that transparency was not compromised.
NUMBERS THAT SHAPE THE RESULT
This year’s recruitment drive was the largest in the Commission’s history, with 2,035 vacancies and 5,450 candidates appearing for the interview stage.
Officials said the high number of candidates was one reason for the delay, as interview rounds took longer to complete. In comparison, the 68th examination had only 324 vacancies and 817 interviewees, while the 69th had 475 vacancies with 1,252 candidates interviewed.
The Commission emphasised that large-scale recruitment naturally requires more time due to verification and administrative procedures.
WHAT COMES NEXT
The Commission said the result marks the near completion of the recruitment cycle, with almost all advertised posts now filled. Successful candidates will soon receive allocation details and appointment letters from their respective departments across Bihar.
Officials added that despite earlier disruptions, the process was conducted in a transparent and merit-based manner throughout. The Commission is expected to begin preparations for the next examination cycle after completing all formal posting formalities.
Authorities said the recruitment process, though delayed, ensured fairness and wide participation, reflecting one of the biggest hiring exercises in Bihar’s administrative history in recent years overall period.
