The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has declared the CA Intermediate May 2026 examination results, and the race for the top ranks turned out to be incredibly close.

Dombivali's Shardul Shekhar Vichare emerged as the All India Rank 1 holder with an impressive 531 marks out of 600, translating to 88.50%.

What makes this year's result particularly interesting is that the gap between AIR 1 and AIR 2 was just one mark.

AIR 1:

Shardul Shekhar Vichare (Dombivali)
Marks: 531/600
Percentage: 88.50%

AIR 2:

Abhinav Satheesh (Kochi)
Marks: 530/600
Percentage: 88.33%

AIR 3:

Teerth Jain (Mumbai)
Marks: 519/600
Percentage: 86.50%

The top three performers all crossed the 86% mark in an examination widely regarded as one of the toughest professional courses in the country.

PASS PERCENTAGE REMAINS CHALLENGING

The latest results once again highlighted the demanding nature of the CA journey.

For candidates who appeared in Group I, the pass percentage stood at 10.25%, with 9,350 candidates clearing the group out of 91,237 who appeared.

In Group II, 10,372 candidates passed out of 64,381 candidates, taking the pass percentage to 16.11%.

Among students who appeared for both groups, only 2,820 candidates cleared, resulting in a pass percentage of 8.47%.

OVER 1.5 LAKH CANDIDATES APPEARED

According to ICAI, a total of 1,53,862 candidates were admitted for the CA Intermediate examination, which was conducted across 611 centres in India and abroad.

Congratulating the successful candidates, ICAI President CA Prasanna Kumar D said students should continue setting new benchmarks and work relentlessly towards their goals as they progress in their chartered accountancy journey.

For thousands of aspirants, the results mark another important milestone in one of India's most competitive professional qualifications.
