Answer-sheet mix-up not due to OSM platform, says Coempt

EdTech firm Coempt Edu Teck has issued a detailed response to concerns raised over the CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) platform, rejecting allegations related to answer-sheet access, image quality, and data security.

The clarification comes amid growing scrutiny of the digital evaluation system following reports of students receiving incorrect answer sheets and claims of security vulnerabilities.

In a statement, Coempt said that an incident where a student allegedly received another candidate’s answer sheet was linked to the physical scanning process and not a technological failure. The company said its internal review identified the location and personnel involved in the scanning process and found no software-related error.

COEMPT RESPONSE

Coempt said that nearly 95% of students who had applied for access to their answer sheets had received them. The company added that complaints related to blurred images and handwriting visibility were being examined in coordination with evaluation authorities.

Responding to allegations about the use of substandard scanning equipment, Coempt said its scanners comply with industry standards and that the company regularly upgrades its hardware infrastructure to maintain quality.

NO LIVE SYSTEM WAS COMPROMISED

On cybersecurity concerns triggered by claims from a 19-year-old ethical hacker, the company clarified that the system accessed was an internal testing server and not part of its live operational infrastructure.

Coempt further stated that no student data or client systems were compromised during the incident.

2019 TELANGANA EVALUATION CONTROVERSY

Coempt also referred to the 2019 Telangana Intermediate examination controversy, citing court records that showed result changes in only a small fraction of reviewed cases.

The company noted that the Supreme Court had declined petitions seeking mass re-evaluation and criminal action against the technology provider.

CONCERNS OVER CBSE'S DIGITAL EVALUATION SYSTEM

Questions surrounding CBSE’s OSM platform gained attention after reports of answer-sheet discrepancies and alleged security issues surfaced online.

Critics have raised concerns over transparency, data security, and the accuracy of digitised answer-book evaluation. However, Coempt has maintained that the reported incidents are isolated cases and do not indicate systemic flaws in its technology platform.
