Delhi BJP MLA Kailash Gahlot's daughter Devina tops CUET UG 2026, secures AIR 1
Securing AIR 1 in CUET UG 2026, Delhi's former minister Kailash Gahlot's daughter said regular revision, conceptual clarity from NCERT and self-belief were central to her preparation strategy.

Delhi's ex-transport and environment Minister and BJP MLA Kailash Gahlot's daughter has secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the recently declared CUET UG 2026 results, emerging as the top scorer in an examination taken by lakhs of students across the country.
A student of DPS Vasant Kunj, Devina Gehlot, said the result came as a surprise despite being confident of a strong performance in the examination. While the youngster expected good scores, securing the top rank nationally was beyond her expectations.
She credited her parents, sister, school and teachers for supporting her throughout the preparation journey.
Sharing her preparation strategy, the topper said she did not believe in studying for long hours every day. Instead, she focused on maintaining discipline, taking regular breaks and revising consistently.
According to Gehlot, preparation for the CBSE board examinations also helped build a strong foundation for CUET.
She relied primarily on NCERT textbooks and solved a large number of previous question papers.
Advising future aspirants, she said students should avoid depending on multiple study sources and instead focus on understanding concepts thoroughly through NCERT.
The topper also spoke about the role of confidence during preparation.
Gehlot said excessive pressure often affects performance and can undermine a student's confidence. According to her, remaining calm and trusting one's preparation are important factors during competitive examinations.
On the changing nature of entrance examinations, she noted that rote learning is no longer sufficient.
Gehlot described CUET as an application-based examination that rewards conceptual understanding and regular practice rather than memorisation. Revising consistently, she said, is more effective than spending an entire day studying.
More than 15.68 lakh candidates registered for the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026, making it one of the largest entrance examinations in the country.
Of these, around 11.64 lakh candidates appeared for the examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) between May and June.
The results, declared on June 23, will now form the basis for admissions to undergraduate programmes across more than 280 participating universities, including central, state, deemed and private institutions.
