The clarification follows concerns raised by candidates and parents after several posts claimed to reveal detailed rank and marks information, including differences between scores obtained in Paper 1 and Paper 2.

According to the institute, these lists are not genuine and contain incorrect data.

SCORE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PAPERS NOT UNUSUAL

Addressing discussions about large variations between Paper 1 and Paper 2 scores, the institute noted that among the top 10,000 rank holders, only two candidates recorded particularly significant gaps. It emphasised that fluctuations in performance across the two papers are common and have been observed and studied every year.

According to IIT Roorkee, such differences are a normal feature of the examination and should not be interpreted as evidence of unfair practices or irregularities.

The institute said it conducted a detailed review of examination records and related data following the concerns. The review found no signs of cheating, malpractice, unauthorised assistance, data tampering or any compromise in the conduct of the examination.
