FREEZE, FLOAT AND SLIDE EXPLAINED

One of the most important decisions after seat allotment is selecting the appropriate willingness option.

Float: Select this if you want to keep your current seat but remain eligible for a higher-preference institute in the upcoming rounds.

Slide: This option is meant for candidates who are happy with the allotted institute but wish to be considered for a higher-preference programme within the same institute.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER ROUND 2?

Once the Round 2 reporting window closes, JoSAA will process seat upgrades based on candidates' willingness options and seat availability. The authority will then release the Round 3 seat allotment result according to the official counselling schedule. Candidates who receive upgraded seats will have to complete the prescribed reporting formalities once again.

CAN YOU WITHDRAW FROM COUNSELLING?

Yes, candidates who decide not to continue with the counselling process can withdraw their candidature during the withdrawal window notified by JoSAA. Those planning to exit counselling should check the official schedule carefully before taking a final decision.
