IAF airlifts NEET-UG re-test papers to 18 hubs nationwide under tight security
The Indian Air Force is airlifting sealed NEET-UG re-test question papers to regional hubs ahead of the June 21 exam. The move is part of tighter security measures to prevent tampering, plug transport vulnerabilities and maintain trust in the process.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has been deployed to transport NEET-UG re-test question papers across the country as part of an enhanced security arrangement. The move comes ahead of the re-examination scheduled for June 21, following the cancellation of the earlier exam.
According to officials, transport aircraft along with Mi-17 helicopters have been pressed into service to ensure time-bound and secure delivery of question papers to designated centres.
FROM AIRBASE TO EXAM CENTRES
The sealed question paper packets are being airlifted to around 18 regional hubs across India. From there, they will be distributed to exam centres under controlled conditions.
Mi-17 helicopters are being used for remote and difficult-to-access areas, ensuring that even last-mile delivery is completed without delay or security risks. The use of air routes is aimed at reducing ground-level exposure and maintaining speed.
ZERO COMPROMISE ON SECURITY
Officials said the entire exercise is designed to maintain an unbroken chain of custody of the examination material. Each stage of movement is being monitored under strict supervision to prevent any possibility of tampering or leakage.
The operation is part of wider security measures introduced after concerns led to the cancellation of the earlier NEET-UG exam. Defence and education authorities are jointly overseeing the process to ensure coordination at every level.
HELICOPTER TRIAL CONDUCTED IN TAMIL NADU
As part of heightened security arrangements for the NEET UG re-examination, authorities in Tamil Nadu are preparing to transport question papers by helicopter. A trial landing of an Indian Army helicopter was conducted at the Tirunelveli Armed Reserve Ground.
Under the proposed plan, question papers will be flown from Delhi to Madurai by aircraft and then airlifted to Tirunelveli by an Indian Army helicopter under security cover. Officials also conducted a mock drill to test the logistics and security protocols ahead of the examination.
WHY AIRLIFT WAS NEEDED
Authorities stated that the involvement of the Indian Air Force ensures faster logistics and stronger security control, especially for sensitive examination materials. The decision reflects the government’s push to strengthen credibility and trust in national-level competitive exams.
Officials added that such arrangements are meant to eliminate vulnerabilities in transport chains that could be exploited during large-scale examinations like NEET.
