CAMPUS TO COME UP IN MALANG

The proposed campus will be located in the Singhasari Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Malang. It will become IIM Bangalore's first overseas campus and adds to India's growing network of global institutions, following overseas campuses opened by IIM Ahmedabad in Dubai, IIT Delhi in Abu Dhabi and IIT Madras in Zanzibar.

The initiative also aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020, which encourages premier Indian institutions to expand globally.

AI, CLIMATE AND HEALTHCARE IN FOCUS

The curriculum has been designed around five emerging areas shaping global business:

  • Global Supply Chains
  • Digital Transformation
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Climate and Sustainability
  • Healthcare Management

Students will also interact with industry leaders, academics and global experts as part of the programme.

ROLLOUT IN TWO PHASES

The campus will begin with Executive Education programmes for senior professionals, business leaders and government officials.

After the first two years, IIM Bangalore plans to introduce degree-granting management programmes, subject to the successful implementation of the initial phase.

While the campus will primarily cater to Indonesian students, it is also expected to attract learners from across Southeast Asia. Participants will have opportunities to visit the Bengaluru campus through short academic immersion programmes.

The move strengthens India's ambition to emerge as a global education hub while deepening academic and strategic ties with Indonesia and the wider Indo-Pacific region.
