In an exclusive interview with India Today, National Testing Agency Director General Abhishek Singh addressed the cancellation of the NEET examination following allegations of a paper leak. Singh stated that the NTA received whistleblower inputs on the night of May 7, four days after the exam was conducted, regarding WhatsApp messages containing content similar to the question paper. He confirmed that the inquiry has been entrusted to the CBI to investigate the complete supply chain and determine the extent of the leak. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for malpractice, Singh remarked, "We would not let them play around with the future of our children." He announced that a re-examination will be held and assured students that the NTA will refund the initial fees, adding, "We'll not be charging any fees for the repeat examination." Singh acknowledged the hardship faced by students and parents but maintained that canceling the exam was necessary to ensure fairness and integrity in the medical entrance process.
