A recent projection by Today's Chanakya for the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections predicts a massive sweep for the Bharatiya Janata Party. The data forecasts the BJP winning 192 plus seats with a 48 percent vote share, while the Trinamool Congress is projected to secure around 100 seats with a 38 percent vote share. The Congress and CPIM are expected to win practically zero seats, indicating a bipolar contest. The analysis points to 15 years of anti-incumbency and religious consolidation as key factors. Demographic breakdowns reveal the minority vote remains firmly with the TMC at 71 percent. However, the BJP has captured 67 percent of the SC vote, 61 percent of the OBC vote, and 53 percent of the ST vote, including crucial support from the Matua and Rajbanshi communities. The findings also suggest that women voters in West Bengal are seeking more substantial financial benefits beyond the current 1500 rupees scheme.
