Fame Gurukul nostalgia hits hard as Arijit Singh-Qazi Touqeer reunite in Jiaganj

Singer Qazi Touqeer shared a video revisiting his journey with Arijit Singh, from their Fame Gurukul days to a recent visit to Jiaganj. The clip captures moments from scooty rides around the town to a friendly game of cricket, offering a nostalgic glimpse into their bond.

Singer Qazi Touqeer, who appeared with Arijit Singh on the 2005 reality show Fame Gurukul, has shared a reel recalling their long association and praising the singer for what he described as his lack of "corruption", insecurity and jealousy. The video moves from their early days on the show to Qazi's recent visit to Arijit's hometown, Jiaganj in West Bengal.

In the reel, Qazi is seen spending time with Arijit in his native place, with the two riding a scooty through the town and meeting people. Qazi, who lent his voice to Afghan Jalebi from the 2015 film Phantom, used the video to speak about their bond, Arijit's family and staff, and the singer's work beyond music.

Recalling their first meeting, Qazi said, "That was Fame Gurukul in 2005, in Mumbai, me, Arijit and Shahid Kapoor. We were teenagers then, and now it's 2026, and we're still teenagers at heart. We just refused to grow up."

The 40-year-old then spoke at length about the Sajni singer, saying, "What can I say about Arijit? There's no corruption in him, no insecurity, no jealousy towards anyone. He is pure passion. He's real. And yes, he's a genius, we all know that."

He also thanked the people he met during the visit, adding, "So much love to the people of Murshidabad, and especially to everyone in Jiaganj. They gave me immense love. Arijit's staff, his family, such beautiful people."

Qazi also spent time with Arijit's father, whom he described as "incredible". He also visited Arijit's cricket academy in Jiaganj.

Qazi signed off by calling Arijit a “champion,” describing him as strong both mentally and emotionally. He also hinted at a possible collaboration, saying the two are looking to do “something different and fun” together.
