Ashish Chanchlani backs Samay Raina's India's Got Latent 2: Fought countless battles
Comedian Ashish Chanchlani backed comedian Samay Raina after criticism that India's Got Latent Season 2 felt too filtered. Chanchalani highlighted that the show returned only after a year-long legal battle and difficult compromises.

Comedian Ashish Chanchlani has come out in support of comedian Samay Raina after the premiere episode of India’s Got Latent Season 2 aired on Saturday, responding to criticism from some social media users who said the comedy felt too filtered and had lost its original charm.
In a post on Instagram Stories, Ashish asked viewers to back Samay, saying it had been extremely difficult to bring the show back after the controversy around its earlier run and that Season 2 itself had seemed uncertain for a long time.
Ashish wrote, "For people saying latent is too filtered or has lost its charm and shit.. Just remember we had to fight a year long legal battle where we promised to stay in line and make sure history doesn't repeat itself (sic)."
"It was almost an uncertainty that this show will come back. But somehow @maisamayhoon made sure he brings it back for yall. He has fought countless battles behind the scenes. It was an uphill almost impossible pipe dream for S2 to even exist. Kabhi kabhi kuch cheeze karni padti hai.. So please Support karo usko aur enjoy karo (There are some things that need to happen. Please support and enjoy) (sic)," he added.
India’s Got Latent Season 2 is being released simultaneously on YouTube and Netflix, with the format and runtime remaining the same on both platforms. Samay Raina has also said that the show will remain “no filter” and stay true to its original style. The main difference is in the viewing experience, with Netflix offering an ad-free version and YouTube continuing with its interactive comment section. New episodes are expected every two weeks.
India’s Got Latent was earlier pulled from YouTube after a major controversy involving guest Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks on an episode. During his appearance on a members-only episode of Samay’s show, Ranveer asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have s*x every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”
Ranveer and Apoorva Mukhija later appeared before the National Commission for Women and submitted written apologies after being questioned for hours. The controversy led to widespread backlash, multiple FIRs and legal challenges, with many viewers questioning whether the show would return at all.
India’s Got Latent Season 2, which premiered on June 20, featured actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as special guests. They appeared on the show to promote their upcoming action thriller, Alpha.
