Insulting women: Fresh FIR against comedian Pranit More over Rs 370 biryani row
In fresh trouble for comedian Pranit More and techie Himanshu Jangra, the Gurugram Police filed a case over the 'Rs 370 biryani' remark, normalising sexual coercion and misogyny.

A fresh police case has been registered against stand-up comedian Pranit More in Gurugram amid mounting outrage over the viral "Rs 370 biryani" controversy, which has sparked a wider debate on misogyny and the limits of comedy.
The FIR was lodged against More and Himanshu Jangra, the tech professional who made the remarks normalising sexual coercion and undermining women's dignity, based on a complaint from the National Commission for Women (NCW).
The controversy erupted after Jangra, an audience member of one of More's recent Gurugram shows, said that he had spent Rs 370 on chicken biryani during a date and later sought sexual favours from the woman in return when she asked him to drop her home, triggering widespread outrage.
The comments triggered a massive backlash on social media, with many accusing him of normalising sexual coercion and non-consensual behaviour towards women. Critics also alleged that More amplified the remarks by laughing during the exchange and later sharing the video online.
The legal action in Gurugram comes even as the Maharashtra Cyber Cell has already registered an FIR against More, Jangra and others over the same controversy.
The NCW immediately stepped into the matter, seeking action from law enforcement authorities and summoning those involved. Following the Commission's intervention, Gurugram Police registered an FIR against the duo. The Commission said the remarks appeared to glorify coercive behaviour and undermine the principle of consent.
Facing intense criticism, More and Jangra issued multiple public apologies. In a video statement, the comedian admitted he had failed to intervene during the audience interaction and said he had been "carried away" by the crowd's reaction. He acknowledged that allowing the remarks to continue was a "lapse in judgment" and apologised to those offended by the incident.
Meanwhile, Jangra reportedly lost his job after the clip went viral, while women's organisations have staged protests against More, demanding accountability for content they say promotes misogyny.
