Jennifer Lopez reacted to Mika Abdalla’s dance sequence in Off Campus, after the scene brought renewed attention to her song On The Floor. In a recent interview, Lopez said she loved the tribute and described the moment as clever, as the sequence continued to circulate widely online.

The scene features Abdalla’s character, Allie, dancing to the track in a green gown modelled on one of Lopez’s most recognisable looks. The sequence, along with Allie’s chemistry with her co-star Dean, became one of the standout moments in the series. The buzz around it later grew further on social media when Abdalla also made a reel with Lopez.

Speaking to E! News, Lopez said, “I’m obsessed with this show. When she came out with the dress, I was just like, are you kidding me right now? And the whole thing, like, I love it. ‘Who want to rock with Jenny?’ Like, they brought you into it. It’s like she was gonna go out there and dance. Like, it was very clever.”

When asked if she had known that the moment was going to happen, Lopez said she had not. “No! They called, and they cleared the music. Now the song’s on the charts, and it’s like a whole new generation of people discovering me and the music. It’s crazy,” she said.

Lopez was also asked if viewers could see her make a cameo in the next season of the series. To which, she said, “I don’t know. We don’t want to ruin it. It was just such an organic viral moment. You don’t want to mess with it. But who knows? Never say never.”

What the moment means for the show

The attention around Abdalla’s scene comes as Off Campus prepares to shift focus to Allie Hayes and Dean Di Laurentis in its second season. Prime Video has confirmed that Abdalla and Stephen Kalyn will lead the new chapter, after their flirtatious dynamic drew attention in the first season. Their story had already received dedicated focus in one episode, signalling a bigger arc ahead.

Series creator Louisa Levy told Variety that all eight scripts for the new season had been written and that the team had “a very exciting plan” for what comes next. Season 2 will adapt The Score, the third book in Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus series, while continuing the franchise’s rotating-couple format.

The show’s first season, based on The Deal, centred on Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham’s fake-dating relationship, with Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli in the lead roles. According to Prime Video, the series drew 36 million viewers globally within its first 12 days after premiering on May 13, making it one of the platform’s biggest series debuts in that period.
