Comedian Sukrut Deo has emerged as an early breakout star of India’s Got Latent Season 2 after his performance on the premiere episode went viral and sharply increased his social media following. The Marathi theatre artist went on the show with around 6,000 to 7,000 Instagram followers, crossed the 100,000 mark within hours of the episode airing, and has gained over 368,000 followers. His act has also drawn praise from actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari and show creator Samay Raina.

The premiere episode featured Alia and Sharvari as special guests as they promoted their upcoming action film Alpha. Sukrut’s segment quickly became one of the most discussed parts of the episode, with viewers widely sharing clips from his performance and the emotional moments that followed on stage.

Sukrut, a Maharashtra-based performer, works as an actor, poet, comedian and theatre artist. He has spent nearly seven years in Marathi theatre and has also appeared in Marathi television projects, experience that was evident in his stage presence during the set. The actor is known for his work in Santosh Pawar's popular play Yadkadchit Returns.

In his act, Sukrut played a drunk man and stayed fully committed to the role throughout the performance. He did not break character even when Samay attempted a comedic interruption, and he remained in character when Alia Bhatt stepped in and said, "Cut."

He ended the set with an emotional poem on the essence of being a kalakar (an artist). The performance earned him a standing ovation from the panel, including Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, and soon became one of the most widely shared segments from the new season.

The moment drew a strong response online, with many viewers sharing supportive messages about his work and journey.

The appreciation for Sukrut’s act continued after the episode aired. Alia Bhatt later shared a post on her Instagram Stories calling him a "legend," while Samay commented, "Star," on Sukrut’s post. Sukrut, in turn, thanked the judges, Samay and the platform for giving him the opportunity to present his talent to a wider audience.
