A debate on marriage, trust and infidelity played out on Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa after actor Ram Kapoor said cheating is not always a dealbreaker if it happened by mistake and the couple is willing to give the relationship another chance. His remarks during a conversation on relationships were strongly opposed by fellow contestant Akanksha Chamola.

Ram argued that long marriages go through difficult phases and that couples should not rush to end a relationship over one mistake. Akanksha, however, rejected the idea that infidelity could happen accidentally and challenged his view directly during the exchange, while Ssunita Ahuja, actor Govinda's wife and another contestant, listened quietly.

Speaking about marriage, Ram said, "If you really love your partner, nothing is a dealbreaker. Marriage is hard and it's a journey. You have to work at your marriage every day. There are highs and lows, good periods and bad periods, strong phases and weak phases. In a bad phase, if by mistake something happens, and you can't live without your partner or your children, then time heals everything and nothing is a dealbreaker."

Akanksha, who had been listening to him quietly, disagreed with his position and said infidelity could not be described as a mistake. "But sir, this doesn't happen by mistake," she said. Ram replied, "Sometimes it happens by mistake."

Akanksha then said, "It's not a mistake. You are physically intimate with someone. That's a process. You have to take somebody's clothes off, take your clothes off, and then do it. You cannot say it's a mistake. It's not like I stabbed you by mistake."

Here's how internet reacted to Ram's comment

The exchange quickly sparked a debate on social media, with many users backing Akanksha's stance and criticising Ram Kapoor's remarks.

One X user wrote, "Ram Kapoor out here justifying cheating and then saying, “Glti se ho jata hai.” I just can’t with this man (folded hand emoji) But I really liked that Akansha took a stand (sic)."

Another commented, "#RamKapoor ne kitni baar has he cheated on his wife? Charansparsh, Iss Ki biwi ko.(folded hand emoji) he’s f***ing normalizing infidelity (sic)."

A third user wrote, "Ram Kapoor is an idiot. Cheating is cheating. There is no justification to it, whether it happens during a bad phase or a good one. Nothing in this world can justify it."

Another post read, "Cheating is not a mistake. It's a choice. It's a process. 100% correct Akanksha. Ram Kapoor is such a typical toxic man."

The show, hosted by Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan, has been making headlines over its contestants and their stints on it. Ram Kapoor is known for television shows such as Kasam Se and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, and has also appeared in films including Student of the Year, Humshakals and Mere Dad Ki Maruti.

Akanksha Chamola, who is also known for television work, recently drew attention after saying that she and her husband, actor Gaurav Khanna, had contemplated separation and had been living separately for a year.
