Actor Kunickaa Sadanand defended comedian Pranit More after he issued a fresh apology over the controversial Rs 370 biryani remark that drew heavy backlash on social media. Kunickaa, who appeared alongside Pranit on Bigg Boss 19, posted her response in the comments section of his apology video on Saturday.

In her message, Kunickaa said Pranit had made a mistake but had shown courage by owning up to it. She described him as "a good boy with the right values" and said roasting and crowd work can sometimes carry entertainers away, especially when people in the room are reacting and laughing. She also said she hoped people would forgive him, while adding that attitudes towards women and girls need to change.

Kunickaa said Pranit should not be seen as the cause of a wider mindset, but as someone who had inherited it through generations of objectification. She wrote, "You were not the cause of a generational mindset; you were one of the many who inherited this mindset from generations of objectification."

The 62-year-old actor ended her comment by saying, "God bless you, I'm sure you will be back with brilliant content. Stay strong, stay mindful."

Pranit More's apology

Pranit earlier shared his apology on Instagram and said he had wanted to speak earlier, but his account had been suspended. He said people had seen his crowd work and that he was receiving a lot of hate because of it. He added that he felt he probably deserved that hate.

In the video, Pranit said his biggest mistake was that he did not stop the audience member when derogatory remarks were made. The 35-year-old comedian said he could have stopped him there, but instead gave him a platform, which led the matter to escalate.

He apologised to everyone who was hurt and said he was cooperating with the authorities in any legal proceedings against him. Pranit also asked people to give him one more chance and said he would become a better person.

How the row began

The controversy began after a clip from Pranit's stand-up show in Gurugram started circulating online. In the clip, audience member Himanshu Jangra was recounting an experience from a date. He implied that after spending Rs 370 on a plate of chicken biryani, he expected something in return from the woman. He said, "Maine kaha ki Rs 370 lage hain to use to wasool to karunga hi." The clip was widely criticised online.

Later, a longer version of the interaction surfaced, drawing further criticism. It showed Jangra describing in graphic detail how he physically grabbed his date and got intimate with her, while Pranit continued to laugh, and the audience cheered. Jangra has now been fired from his job for his objectionable remarks.
