Influencer and reality television contestant Tanya Mittal has spoken about the backlash against comedian Pranit More, saying she felt bad for him, while emphasising that what happened was wrong. She has featured in Bigg Boss 19 alongside More.

Speaking on a recent Fever FM YouTube show, Mittal said, "I do feel bad for Pranit as well. A mistake was made, FIRs were filed against him, and he was subjected to intense public backlash." She said More had apologised and added that, after a point, people should ask whether social media was becoming too toxic.

Mittal said accountability is important, but criticism should not reach a point where a person’s family loses its dignity in society. She said, "Ek point ke baad ruk jana chahiye. Bura bolo, kisi pe sawal uthao (You should stop at a certain point. Criticise, raise questions about someone...) then stop."

"Itna Karo ki aaj uska parivar bhi samaj me reh paye...Woh bhi insaan hai aur galti insaan se hoti hai (At least ensure that his family can continue to live in society... he is a human being too, and humans make mistakes)," Tanya added.

She also said people should remember that anyone could face such scrutiny if they make a mistake.

Her remarks come as outrage continues over an exchange during More’s comedy show.

During an audience interaction, 23-year-old Himanshu Jangra spoke about a date in which he said he had spent Rs 370 on a plate of chicken biryani. He suggested that he expected something in return because of the amount he had spent.

The clip drew sharp criticism online, with many accusing Jangra and More of normalising problematic behaviour. The wider backlash also focused on allegations of sexual coercion and disregard for consent. Critics also said More amplified the remarks by laughing during the exchange and later sharing the video online.

As the clip went viral, both men issued public apologies. Both of them also later released a longer video message addressing the controversy and the backlash that followed.

The fallout then moved beyond social media. The Maharashtra Cyber Police registered an FIR against More and Jangra over alleged obscene and derogatory remarks. The National Commission for Women also summoned them in the matter. In Gurugram, police registered a fresh FIR against the two based on a complaint from the NCW.
