Didn't do this for money: Shilpa Shinde on backlash over fake harassment charges
Shilpa Shinde addressed the backlash over her podcast remarks on the 2016 Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain dispute. She defended her confession and clarified that she didn't do anything for money.

Actor Shilpa Shinde has broken her silence after facing widespread criticism over a viral clip from her recent podcast appearance, in which she admitted that the sexual harassment allegations she levelled against the producer of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! in 2016 were false. Addressing the backlash, the actor clarified that her admission was not motivated by money, adding that all her dues had already been cleared.
Amid calls for her arrest and intense backlash on social media, the actor shared a video message on Instagram rejecting claims that her confession was clearly to get financial benefits or publicity. She revealed that she had already left the show and had accepted the blame directed at her.
"I didn't do it for money. I had already left the show. I had already accepted the blame that was put on me. After Bigg Boss, I met a man who told me that his father had died by suicide because he was accused of something he had never done. He told me that watching my journey inspired him to keep living," she clarified.
Speaking in Hindi, Shilpa said she had expected criticism but felt it was important to address the issue publicly. "I usually read comments because I know what my fans write to me. If you watch Bharti ji and Harsh's podcast, you'll see the comments there too. After this PR campaign and the comments that are coming in, I want to tell those people that you reap what you sow," she said.
The Bigg Boss 11 winner added that people were reacting without understanding the circumstances behind her decision.
"I knew this was going to happen because the world never appreciates anything good. People think I should have said this ten years ago when I was doing the show. But I chose to speak now,” she said.
Recalling an incident after her stint on Bigg Boss, she shared that a man once told her his father had died by suicide after being falsely accused, and that her journey had inspired him to keep living.
The actor reflected on the backlash she faced after making the allegations and the criticism that continues to follow her recent confession. Shilpa said she has learned to stand by her truth, even if it means facing public outrage alone.
“People laughed at me and abused me. But when you know you haven't done anything wrong, you don't fear anything. Nobody supported me then, so I don't expect anyone's support now. I am ready to face all of this. Don't care what people think,” she added.
Ending her message, the actor said she believes she has done the right thing by speaking the truth. "We fight for the truth. That's what I did today. Let people keep barking, but if you spend your time helping someone who genuinely needs it, it will do you more good. I don't expect support from anyone anymore,” she concluded.
Alongside the clip, she wrote, "Passing judgment on a single line without watching the entire podcast is a poor approach by paid PR. Thanks to my well-wishers for understanding me (sic).”
