Shilpa Shinde (L) seemingly mocked Hina Khan's (R) father's death in her recent video.

Television actor Shilpa Shinde has responded after actor Hina Khan criticised her for admitting that she had falsely accused Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! producer Sanjay Kohli of sexual harassment in 2016. Reacting to Khan's strongly worded note in a new video, Shinde appeared to make indirect references to Khan's breast cancer diagnosis and the death of her father. Without naming Hina, Shinde also accused the actor of seeking publicity through her clarification.

The 48-year-old also said that "people" had not supported her nine years ago. She further suggested that those criticising her shall read Mahabharatha.

Shinde, in her Instagram video, said, "I do not know when people will stop gaining publicity in my name. But do not climb onto a moving train, or you will get hurt, right? To gain publicity, you have your illnesses, you have the deaths in your family, so why do you need Shilpa Shinde, right? You are already widely published."

Shinde, who popularised the character Angoori Bhabhi in the show, highlighted that if she had received public support back then, the situation would not have escalated to its current state. Reflecting on her actions after nearly 10 years, she emphasised that she is speaking up entirely on her own accord to defend a woman's husband and a father, driven by the guilt of a past falsehood.

Explaining that she could no longer live with the lie, Shinde challenged the authorities to arrest her, acknowledging that if the producer had been arrested at the time, she too would have faced consequences for filing the complaint. Justifying her past choices, the actor urged others to understand the strategic realities of the situation, adding, "Read about saam (persuasion), daam (price), dand (punishment), bhed (division). If you have not read it, then watch Mahabharata."

The latest exchange began after Hina Khan reacted to Shinde’s confession about false sexual harassment claims against Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! producer Sanjay Kohli. Hina, who was with Shinde in Bigg Boss 11, said on social media that she was "shocked" and "appalled", and called Shinde’s actions "shameful".

Following Shinde's recent statement, Delhi-based men's rights organisation NCMIndia Council for Men Affairs has sought action from Mumbai police over false harassment allegations.
